Fame isn't detective Harry Callahan's style. He dislikes being grouped with a rock star, a film critic and a TV host, all slain celebrities in a macabre betting pool called the Dead Pool. Another name just got added and it's his.
Clint Eastwood returns for his fifth Callahan caper and this time his new partner is a Karate whiz, mafia goons have sworn to snuff him. And in the most amazing San Francisco chase since Bullitt, Harry puts the pedal to the metal to outrun a bomb carrying, Radio controlled toy car.
It's also a great showcase for future stars Jim Carrey, playing an ill-fated rock musician, and Liam Neeson as a power-tripping Director. For hard-hitting action, dive into this cool pool!

Take a dip in the dead pool - 3.75 out of 5 (11/19/2001)
The DEAD POOL was the film that returned us back to the roots of Dirty
Harry. It was the fifth and final appearance of the character and the film
is at least as good as the first showing of the character.
After the sudden fane of SUDDEN IMPACT, the studio begged Clint Eastwood to
return back to San Francisco and he wisely held off for a number of years
until a suitable plot could be found.
The DEAD POOL was that plot and the story has a lot to say about the price
of being famous. Th

"sombody help the mayor lift that thing!" - 4 out of 5 (11/20/2001)
I love it. This film marks Clint Eastwood's rise to the top of the '80's "Big Gun Syndrom". Look back and tell me I'm wrong. All the male action stars of that era carry biger and bigger uns in each movie. Arnold, Sly, all of them carried personal cannons. You would have thought Clint would be happy with the custom Auto-Mag in Sudden Impact, but that's nothing compared to the Rocket Powered Whale Harpoon Clint is gunning in the end of this film. Personally, i don't think a man of his year
